In 2024, the Association installed an automated external defibrillator (AED) for public use in a yellow box at the southern end of Ellen Drive, near the main dock. An AED is a portable device that can help a person whose heart has suddenly stopped working.

 

 

 

Bring your cell phone to the yellow box where the AED is located and dial 911. Give the operator the location of the box – 2 Ellen Drive in the Sonquipaug Association. You will receive a code that will unlock the box. The AED has full instructions in audio form to guide you in its use.

 

Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a vitally important technique to use in emergencies when someone is unresponsive and not breathing or gasping for air. CPR will help when you use the AED.

 

The Association recommends that everyone receive CPR training.

 

 

 

Code Red is a service through which Charlestown RI town officials send notices about time-sensitive emergencies and important community alerts to people and businesses in the area. The recipients receive Code Red alerts via telephone, cellular phone, text message, or emails.
